Y Heroes: Stacey Younger, Mt. Trashmore Family YMCA

Christian is 7 years old and in the 2nd grade at Pembroke Elementary. He has been a familiar face around the Mt. Trashmore YMCA since age 3 when he first began the preschool program. His teachers made going from a home child care to a structured licenses environment as smooth a transition as I could have asked for. He has attended summer camp for the last three years. I owe my deepest gratitude to the YMCA for teaching my son how to swim. A life skill that every child should know, I am so thankful that it is included in the programs.He also began his athletic career at the YMCA. He participated in every Y Sport that was offered. They focused on teaching the fundamentals and developing a love for the sport. Which is exactly what he has for it now, LOVE. He has since moved on to more competitive organizations but we are thankful to the Y for setting that foundation! He has made many friends over the past 4 years at the Y, some of whom have already ventured to other parts of their lives. However, we manage to keep in touch with them. It’s a joy to see him have such strong relationships at such an early age. Christian is a very well rounded child. He thrives in school and has a passion for sports. He is kind and shows respect for others. We will always be thankful to the Y for the assistance they provide making it possible for him to attend the programs offered!
