What is the 20/20 Member Referral Program?

The 20/20 Member Referral Program is a way for you to build a community of your friends at the Y. When you refer a friend to the Y (your referral buddy), both you and your friend receive 20% off your monthly membership fee! 

What is a referral buddy?

A referral buddy is the person who is enrolled in the 20/20 Member Referral program with you because:
• They joined the Y because of your referral.
• You joined the Y because of their referral.

What if I already have a discount applied to my monthly membership fee?

You are welcome to refer new friends to the Y. However, you may not combine the 20/20 Member Referral discount with any other membership rate discount, including discounts through employer group rates and Open Doors discounts. The 20% discount associated with the 20/20 Member Referral Program is applied to membership types at their full rate. However, if your current discount is less than 20% off monthly membership dues, you can choose to participate in the 20/20 Member Referral Program instead.

How long is my 20% discount good?

As long as your referral buddy (the member that you refer or who referred you) remains an active member in good standing, you will receive your 20% monthly rate discount.

Can I refer more than one person?

Yes! There's no limit to how many people you can refer—multiple members as referral buddies so that if one friend ever cancels you have someone to move into your primary referral buddy spot. That way, you can continue to receive your referral discount. However, you will only receive the 20% discount for one referral at a time.

What if my referral buddy cancels their membership?

If your referral buddy cancels their membership, and you have no other referral buddies on your referral bench, your monthly membership rate will resume at the full-rate for your membership type (Individual, Adult+1, Family) after 30 days.

How long do I have to be a member before I can refer a buddy?

You must be a member for at least 30 days.

Why should I stack my “referral bench”?

The 20/20 Member Referral Program is contingent upon the active membership status of the person who referred you or the people that you refer. The more people you have to move into your primary referral buddy spot, the better chance you have at continuing to receive your 20% discount if your current primary referral buddy cancels their membership. The more referral buddies you have, the safer your discount is!

I joined from a friend referral. How do I submit my request for my discount?

The first step is to talk with the friend that referred you. You will need to collect some information, including their first and last name, membership key tag (barcode) number, street address and email address. This information will ensure that you are accurately linked to your referral buddy. Fill out the referral form in its entirety, using the information collected from your friend. We will then call you within three business days of receiving your form to verify that you and your referral buddy are both eligible to participate in the 20/20 Member Referral Program.

How long do I have to fill out the Referral Form?

You must submit your referral form within seven days from your membership join date.

When can I expect to see the discount applied to my membership?

Once you have submitted the referral form, please allow three business days for processing. At that time, if you are the new member, you will also receive a credit of 20% of your joining fee and any membership dues that you paid when joining (your proration).

What payment options are required to participate?

You must have a valid credit card or EFT on file and pay your membership dues by monthly draft in order to participate in the 20/20 Member Referral Program.

How much time has to go by between when I was last a member to qualify for the Member Referral Program?

You must not have been an active member within the last six months to qualify for the Member Referral Program.
