TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS

The protection and safety of children is our first concern within our YMCA preschool programs. Our preschool teachers meet Virginia Department of Education requirements for Early Childhood Education. Many of our teachers also have Associate’s or Bachelor’s degrees in the field of Early Childhood Education. Additionally, our teachers have completed at least 40 hours of training before working with children, including:

• CPR & First-Aid Certified
• Health & Safety Supervision
• Child Development
• Child Abuse Prevention
• Programming

Staff also receive over 16 hours of continuing education throughout the school year.

Every time of day, especially playtime, is an opportunity to learn. Our staff intentionally uses every interaction with your child to help them build new skills.
