Child Abuse Prevention Month
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
This month focuses efforts on recognizing the importance of families and communities working together to strengthen families to prevent child abuse and neglect. Through this collaboration, prevention services and supports help protect children and produce thriving families.
At the YMCA of South Hampton Roads, child safety is not just important, it is a top priority. From the training our staff receive every year through our partners at the Redwoods Group utilizing their Child Abuse Prevention course, to the background checks on anyone involved in the Y's programs and services as staff OR volunteers, and the charge of being mandatory reporters of suspected abuse, the Y remains focused on protecting all children in our community.
