Day Camp at the Y: Kinder Camp

Kinder Camp is for rising kindergartners ages 4–5 who are ready for an all day program. Weekly themes keep kids engaged and safely having fun with friends at the Y.

Sports Camp

YMCA half-day sports camps combine skill building, teamwork, and fun to cultivate a passion for the sport and physical activity in a nurturing setting. Camps focus on skills, drills, and a tournament to round out the week.

YMCA Basketball Camp is available at the Blocker Norfolk Family YMCA. This camp takes place in the evening.

First Camp provides an introductory experience for our new-to-camp kiddos ages 5–6. First campers learn about friendship, responsibility, and caring and follow a structured schedule filled with age-appropriate activities and travel as a family group with their counselors to and from all activities.

Pathfinder Camp is for campers who want to develop and strengthen friendships, challenge themselves and grow in their strengths. Guided by counselors, pathfinders are the budding leaders of camp, and help cultivate new traditions, bringing the thunder to camp assemblies!

Outdoor Adventure Camp: Trailblazer Camp

Trailblazer Camp is a leadership development camp for ages 13–14. Trailblazers enjoy favorite camp activities and team building challenges. They also have the opportunity to shadow camp counselors, learn facilitation skills and participate in service projects.

Outdoor Adventure Camp: Counselor in Training

Participants develop and practice the leadership skills they need to become a camp counselor. Counselors in Training (CITs) are provided first-hand experience working with campers, learning and practicing leadership skills. CITs are selected through an application and interview process. Training and a four-week commitment are required if selected.

Outdoor Adventure Camp: Adaptive Camp

Adaptive Camp at the YMCA at JT's Camp Grom in Virginia Beach is designed for campers ages 5 to 12 whose physical, social and emotional abilities require additional assistance when participating in camp activities. Adaptive camp is staffed with a 1:3 counselor to camper ratio. Prior to camp, we will meet with parents to plan a fun summer camp experience tailored to each camper’s needs and abilities.
