Ken and Valorie Sumner, 2020 Recipient of the YMCA Volunteer Service Award for the YMCA of South Hampton Roads


Each year Ken and Valorie voluntarily visit each of the YMCAs as Mr. and Mrs. Claus—taking pictures for Cookies with Santa, getting into the pool for Swim with Santa events and ensuring kids have an amazing Christmas. They do this free of charge and create an amazing experience, even during the pandemic. For our children at Camp Grom that struggle with communication, sensory issues and a feeling of inclusion, Mr. and Mrs. Claus understand the importance of their impact and create an environment that is inclusive to our kids.
