Celebrating 180 years of bridge building
On Thursday, June 13, members, volunteers, donors and staff came together at the Princess Anne Family YMCA for a prayer breakfast in celebration of 180 years of bridge building and connection.
The Y is a vibrant community, bringing people from all walks of life together to play, learn, and grow. It's where friendships bloom, Zumba classes turn into dance parties, and basketball games become epic showdowns of friendly competition. With every splash in the pool or high-five at summer camp, the Y builds bridges that connect us all and make our community stronger.
At the event, attendees wrote what the Y means to them on paper strips that were formed into one long continuous linked chain along with links that were created by children in YMCA programs.
Thank you to our speakers and those who shared stories:
Jean Stean, Senior Director of Donor Impact
Noel Dodds, Livestrong at the YMCA participant
Kaitlyn Woods, Suffolk Family YMCA
Dr. Antipas Harris, Pastor, Urban Renewal Center
Dominique Rice, HER Shelter
Art Childs, Pastor, Trinity Church
We’re grateful for the 180 years we have had to work in our communities, and we’re looking forward to many more opportunities to build bridges with our neighbors.
