Hilltop YMCA Pool Closure
We are making essential remodeling updates to our Hilltop YMCA's aquatic center. We are replacing the equipment that controls the humidity in the pool and indirectly the air temperature and water temperature. We will also be repairing the roof in the process to ensure complete temperature and moisture control.
This work will begin on Monday, November 13th and we expect the pool to remain closed through December 3. Dates may be updated as the work progresses.
How members and swimmers are affected:
All aquatics activities normally scheduled at the Hilltop Family YMCA pool will move to the pool at the YMCA at JT's Camp Grom, located at 1181 Prosperity Road in Virginia Beach.

How child care families are affected:
The parking lot where we normally host drop-off and pick-up will be blocked off to traffic to create space for heavy equipment while work is performed. Drop-off and pick-up will be moved to the front lobby of the Hilltop Family YMCA, where a childcare counselor will be waiting at the Welcome Desk. When you drop your child off, a staff member will walk them back to the care space, and when you pick your child up, a staff member will bring them back to the lobby.

The indoor pool at the Hilltop Family YMCA is getting a much needed renovation! We are replacing the equipment that controls the humidity in the pool and indirectly the air temperature and water temperature. We will also be repairing the roof in the process to ensure complete temperature and moisture control.
Renovations will begin on Monday, November 13th and go until Sunday December 3rd.
This is a major renovation and the timeline may be fluid based on the progress of the remodel. We will work to keep members as up to date as possible through text, email and direct in person communication.
Activities that normally take place in the pool at the Hilltop Family YMCA will be moved to the pool at the YMCA at JT’s Camp Grom. There may be a few exceptions where activities are already scheduled at the YMCA at JT's Camp Grom, and the schedule has been updated to reflect pool availability.
The YMCA at JT's Camp Grom is located 13 minutes away from the Hilltop Family YMCA at 1181 Prosperity Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23451, Birdneck and Prosperity, located near the KOA and Virginia Beach Fire Training Center.

GROM has four individual changing rooms/showers as well as men's and women’s locker rooms with showers.
Members will have access to the pool and locker rooms. The YMCA at JT's Camp Grom does not offer drop-in child care and does not have a fitness center with equipment. Members are encouraged to stay within the parking lot and pool building unless taking a staff-guided tour of the campground.
TIDE swimmers will swim at their regularly scheduled times in the pool at the YMCA at JT's Camp Grom. Please work with your TIDE swim coach for further details.
The YMCA at JT's Camp Grom will not offer swimming on the following dates:
- Saturday, November 18
- Thursday, November 23–Sunday, November 26
- Saturday, December 2
