Safe, Affordable Child Care
YMCA before and after-school child care in Portsmouth focuses on safety, health, social growth and academic enrichment. The Y provides a safe and fun place for kids to go, so that parents can work or study. Children have options to explore and develop their interests and talents. Our flexible schedule allows each child to choose what they want to do.
Child Care Staff Qualifications:
- Meet state licensing standards and 18 years and older
- CPR & First-Aid Certified
- Completed at least 36 hours of training before working with children
- Health & Safety
- Supervision
- Child Development
- Child Abuse Prevention
- Programming
Staff also receive over 16 hours of continuing education throughout the school year.

Before-School Care:
Member Rate: $63/week
Regular Rate: $79/week
After-School Care:
Member Rate: $79/week

Before & After-School Care:

Hours:
Care takes place from 6am until school start and school end until 6pm.
Open Doors Financial Assistance
Because our community is strongest when we all participate together, financial assistance is available for membership and programs. When you apply for Open Doors, rates are set by a sliding fee scale, based on income. Assistance is made possible by generous donations to the Y's annual giving campaign.
